The NSW Government, as part of the WestInvest Fund, has presented the first blueprint with $2 billion reserved for Community Projects.
This includes $400 million for 15 Local Government Areas in West and South West Sydney, for which Enfield Rover FC will benefit from.
Henley Park, located in the Burwood LGA and the home ground for Enfield Rovers, will receive $2.734 million to bring new life and vitality for two grounds to revamp the sport and recreational facilities.
The handful of projects designated in the aforementioned areas, will bring about vast benefits including:
- A minimum of 13 new and reinvigorated parks
- Over 15 brand new and improved community centres
- Nine refurbished sports grounds and fields
- Over 25km of new walking and cycling tracks
- An increase of trees and greenery
In 1961, as a volunteer-driven community club, Enfield Rovers Football Club was established, who is part of the Canterbury District Soccer Football Association (CDSFA). From the past winter season the club had 601 registered players, with 23 percent being female participants.
With the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand just around the corner, the development of Henley Park via the WestInvest Fund will attract more females to the club and take a step forward in achieving the strategic goal of 50/50 gender parity by 2027 set out by Football Australia.
The fans of Enfield Rovers have seen their club go through works that include:
- A supply of watering land and subsoil drainage system (field 1 and 2)
- The display and placing of new high quality turf (field 1 and 2)
- An improved small sided synthetic field
- Enhancing the existing amenity building
It is no doubt that once the improved renovation has been completed, it will have a facility to wish for across the many community football clubs in NSW.
