Western Sydney Wanderers FC have recently confirmed a new partnership with Sydney Catholic Schools, with the target to grow and assist football participation in the region by setting up grassroots programs and competitions, and also organising sessions to elevate the students physical and emotional wellbeing aspects.
This partnership will also involve coaching courses for teachers, concentrating on the foundations of the game itself, how to manage players and training players of all calibre.
Staff and senior-aged individuals will have Team Building Program, taking the educational side away from the football and merging it with excitement and interactive discussion highlighting the significance of building strong connection around trust, communication and problem-solving.
Wanderers will also get the ball rolling for an After School Pre-Academy Development Program planned to further boost the skills of football players across the schools in Western Sydney from the guidance of expertise of the foremost Wanderers Academy coaches.
Western Sydney CEO Scott Hudson said he was pleased to create a new future for students and teachers.
“We are delighted to be able to partner with Sydney Catholic Schools to provide a product and pathway for students and teachers to enjoy and learn to play football,” he said.
Sydney Catholic Schools Manager of Sport Declan Donohue expressed his excitement to be involved in the Western Sydney community.
“The Wanderers are an organisation that have such a strong connection to their fanbase and region, and we are looking forward to being part of that community,” said Donohue.
“We have a large number of talented footballers in our schools across Western Sydney who will now have access to a range of exciting opportunities and programs.
“Sport plays a vital role in the education and development of young people, and we are excited about the benefits our students will be able to enjoy with the Wanderers’ ongoing support.”
