The Australian Chinese Soccer Association (ACSA) celebrated their 25th anniversary with an event held in Sydney, in front of more than 250 guests.
Teams from the association were recently triumphant in the ‘Evergreen Tournament’ in Auckland, also referred to as the Chinese Senior World Cup.
The Over 50s team that represented the association were winners in their age group, whilst the Over 45s and Over 65s both finished second in their division. The Over 60s came fifth, giving the ACSA their best ever results at the event.
Guests in attendance included former Socceroo and SBS media personality Craig Foster, who spoke crucially on the impact football has on multicultural Australia and the role it has in ‘uniting the tribes’.
Other attendees included NSL great and current Fox Sports Football commentator Andy Harper, football journalist Dominic Bossi and Head of Football for Football NSW Peter Hugg.
Hugg claimed “the ACSA is to be congratulated for its 25 Year Anniversary and for its overall contribution to our game in New South Wales. Special commendation is deserved for all the volunteers who put in so many hours and to the sponsors who support and fund their activities, as well as to the teams that competed in the recent Evergreen Tournament in New Zealand. I wish them all best wishes and every success for the next 25 years!”
