Football NSW has announced that Gilbert Lorquet is the new chairman for the state’s governing body.
Mr. Lorquet was appointed as Chairman by the Board of Football NSW at a meeting held on Monday night. Fiona Lang was named as Deputy Chair.
Lorquet was elected as a Board Member for Football NSW at a recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), where he agreed to a new four-year term to the board.
The 46-year-old brings across extensive experience in corporate and sports administration. His work includes his current role of Chief Executive Officer for the NORTH Foundation, which is the fundraising arm of the Northern Sydney Local Health District.
Lorquet has also held football positions in NSW, where he previously represented Abbotsford Juniors FC as President, while he was also Deputy Chairman of Canterbury & District Soccer Football Association.
“It’s a great honour to have been elected by the members to the board and now to be appointed by my fellow Board Members to lead Football NSW as the Chairman,” Lorquet said.
“I want to thank the board for entrusting me with such an important role. I am looking forward to working with the entire football family to continue to grow and develop our game.”
The Football NSW Board features members Fiona Lang, Carlos Gonzalez, Gilbert Lorquet, Morris Iemma, Stephen Loader and Appointed Directors Stephanie Brantz, Louie Apostolovski and Stephen Hayes.
