Austrian Bundesliga and StatsBomb have partnered together to provide analytical services to all the clubs, in the top division of the professional Austrian league system.
The multi-year partnership is the first of its kind for StatsBomb and the 12 member clubs, enabling them to benefit from StatsBomb’s advanced IQ and football data analysis platform.
The partnership was activated at the start of the current season and will continue through to the 2023/24 and 2024/25 campaigns.
StatsBomb is also associated with over 100 teams globally as their principal source of footballing data, with teams ranging from major European leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga, and many more.
Along with access to over 3,400 events per game, many of StatsBomb’s unique metrics such as pressures by team and player and pass footedness, as well as detailed player profiles will be available to all teams of the Austrian Bundesliga.
StatsBomb’s remodelled expected goals (xG) metric in addition to other upgraded features, will be accessible to each user.
Unlike the previous model, users are now able to have a better understanding of goalkeeper positioning and its contribution to suppressing xG values, as well as a better understanding of player finishing skill and shot velocity is a new feature within this newly revitalised model.
StatsBomb Business Development Lead Ismail Tari spoke about the announcement in a statement:
“We are delighted to announce this strategic partnership with the goal of contributing to Austria’s increasing importance in world football,” he said.
“This partnership will also strengthen the clubs’ innovative approach to key aspects of the modern game, including player recruitment and performance analysis. Also a big thank you to David Reisenauer for being a great counterpart throughout the entire process.”
Head of Competition at Austrian Bundesliga, David Reisenauer, added via press release:
“As a league we are always looking for new ways to support the daily work of our clubs and especially the coaches,” he said.
“With adding data from StatsBomb to our widespread portfolio on data analytics we made additional progress and are now looking forward to a great cooperation over the next few years.”
