On Monday, Football Victoria announced that community club Hampton Park United Sparrows had been awarded a 5-star club rating by Football Federation Australia.

These ratings were implemented with the objective of improving upon soccer at the community level both on and off the park, something that is vital to the success of the sport in Australia.

The Sparrows, based out of Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs is purely volunteer-run and on their website, they talk about just how important they see the sport at this particular level.

On their about page, they say this:

“Our efforts are aimed at ensuring that we deliver an environment that is inclusive, fun, educational and competitive in scope.”

They clearly share the core values needed for clubs to succeed at the community level and they have been justly rewarded for their hard work and commitment.

Hampton Park United Sparrows FC is the first Victorian club to be accredited with the prestigious 5-star club rating by Football Federal Australia.

The FFA recently launched its National Club Development Program (NCDP) to assist administrators at grassroots football clubs.

Designed in collaboration with the nine member federations and a number of associations, zones and clubs, the NCDP provides a model for community-based football clubs to maintain and enhance standards for the benefit of all members.

The NCDP framework was built on the overwhelming success of Football Victoria’s Club Ambassador Program, which saw 95% of 350 clubs participate across the state.

Optus Sport to stream Football Victoria’s Nike F.C. Cup Final

Football Victoria have made the exciting announcement that Optus Sport will yet again stream the Nike F.C. Cup Final in 2022.

Optus Sport have been the home of the English Premier League in Australia since 2016, and are also home to LaLiga, the Women’s Super League, K-League, J-League and the EURO’s.

The Cup Final will be held on Sunday afternoon, when South Melbourne takes on Calder United at Valley Park Events Centre, Broadmeadows.

Football Victoria CEO Kimon Taliadoros applauded Optus Sport’s commitment and acknowledged their continued support of the local game in a statement released by Football Victoria.

“The appetite for women’s football is growing exponentially and we thank Optus Sport for their elevation of the Nike F.C. Cup again in 2022,” he said in a statement.

“We are thrilled that subscribers across the nation can experience the quality football that the two teams will deliver on Sunday.”

Match coverage starts at 3.30pm AEDT, with the final kicking off at 4pm this Sunday.

Coverage will also be provided for non-subscribers on NPL.TV and Football Victoria’s Facebook and YouTube.
