Football Australia, in collaboration with Free TV Australia, have extended their partnership with PacificAus TV through to 2027.
This partnership will bring all Football Australia-controlled home matches for both the Matildas and the Socceroos to the Pacific free of charge. In addition, Hahn Australia Cup and Australian Championship fixtures will be included.
This renewed agreement strengthens the bond between the Australian Government and PacificAus TV, which is an integral part of their Indo-Pacific Broadcasting Strategy.
It also comes a week after Football Australia and OFC entered an agreement to develop football on the pitch through an MoU, which shows a clear intention to have fingerprints on the underepresented region.
PacificAus TV’s main objective is to diversify Indo-Pacific television with high-quality, trusted Australian content.
For Football Australia, this deal serves as a key part of their strategy to showcase their national men’s and women’s teams and premier competitions.
The strategy aims to boost the profile of Australian Football in international markets through increased exposure and reach.
Football Australia Interim CEO, Heather Garriock spoke on the importance of the partnership to both Australia and the Pacific.
“Football Australia’s partnership with PacificAus TV is an important expansion of Football Australia’s strategy to be a leader in the Pacific region,” Garriock said in a press release.
“We are delighted to expand our broadcast partnership with PacificAus TV and to ensure that football continues to inspire and connect communities across the Pacific.”
PacificAus TV Director, Shane Wood commented on the renewed agreement and its contribution to sporting and cultural ties between Australia and the Pacific.
“This partnership with Football Australia underlines PacificAus TV’s role in the Australian Government’s efforts to increase access to high quality, trusted and credible Australian television content in the Indo-Pacific, strengthening cultural and sporting ties across the region,” Wood said in a press release.
Additionally, the agreement reinforces Football Australia’s mission to use football as a platform to strengthen relationships and build capacity across the Pacific and Oceania region.
Matches will be available for broadcast in the following locations: Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
